Recruiting analyst discusses ‘target’ Arch Manning has on his back as No. 1 recruit in 2023

Arch Manning is under immense scrutiny as not only the 3rd generation of one of the most famous families in football, but as the No. 1 recruit in the country. That will only increase once he arrives at Texas in 2023 and eventually makes his way onto the football field.
That being said, Manning has drawn criticism from those that feel that he has benefited from playing weakened competition, arguing that it’s the reason behind his statistics. Thus far in 2022 at Isidore Newman School in New Orleans, he has thrown 20 touchdowns in just 6 games and has run for 6 more.
“I think there’s a lot of people that want Arch Manning to fail,” 247Sports recruiting analyst Andrew Ivins said on Thursday. “Is there a high schooler under more pressure in the class of 2023? He has a target on his back. He checks social media, everyone’s pointing out who he’s going up against. And you know what? Arch Manning can’t control that.”
Ivins mentioned that he was impressed with what Manning has shown from a leadership standpoint, which isn’t often evident thanks to his “reserved” nature, while saying that the perception that he is performing well due to weaker opponents is flawed.
“He’s playing the schedule that he has, and he’s producing, and he looks great doing it,” he said.
