Nick Saban has had a busy start to the offseason remaking his coaching staff after multiple departures. A report states he may have another spot to fill soon.

Matt Zenitz of AL.com reports that Crimson Tide cornerbacks coach Karl Scott is expected to be a top target for Maryland’s defensive coordinator opening. Scott and current Maryland head coach Mike Locksley were both on staff at Alabama during the 2018 season.

247Sports’ recruiter rankings for the 2021 cycle have Scott at No. 2 in the nation, behind only former Alabama running backs coach Charles Huff. The site credits Scotts as involved in the recruitment of nine Crimson Tide commitments, including the primary recruiter for 5-star OT Tommy Brockermeyer and 5-star CB Ga’Quincy McKinstry.

A native of  Houston, Texas, Scott arrived at Alabama in 2018, coming over from Texas Tech. Locksley is entering his third season as head coach of the Terrapins.
