Sad day for the Hoover High community as former defensive lineman Curtis Dawson has reportedly passed away at the age of 33. Following his touted high school career at Hoover, Dawson went on to play one season at Alabama in 2004.

Unfortunately, Dawson never made much of an impact in Tuscaloosa, as he was dismissed by head coach Mike Shula following his only season with Alabama. No specific reason was given for the dismissal, other than a “violation of team policy” by Dawson. His Crimson Tide career was cut too short, as he only made 19 career snaps for Alabama.

Much like his playing career in Tuscaloosa, Dawson’s life was unfortunately cut short, as Cecil Hurt of Tide Sports reports that Dawson passed away Wednesday. The nature of his death has not been disclosed at this time.
