Gus Malzahn is turning to a former assistant to help the current vacancies on Auburn’s staff.

Brandon Marcello of Auburn Undercover is reporting that Kenny Ingram is expected to return to the Tigers as he visited Auburn on Monday. Ingram, who spent the past two seasons coaching defensive line at Cincinnati, previously worked with Malzahn at Arkansas State (defensive line) and Auburn (director of player development) during the 2012-14 seasons.

It’s not known yet what role Ingram would assume on Malzahn’s staff. Two off-field positions are open after director of football operations Jamie Croley and assistant athletics director for football David Gunn resigned from their positions with the Tigers in May. Croley, Malzahn’s brother-in-law, stepped down to help the family launch a charitable foundation.

At last week’s SEC spring meetings, Malzahn told reporters that he planned to fill the staff openings in the next week to 10 days.
