Former Texas A&M standout Michael Bennett was indicted by a Texas grand jury Friday for allegedly injuring a 66 year-old paraplegic security officer at the 2017 Super Bowl.
The Eagles’ lineman has been out of the country, but he’s expected to turn himself in on Monday, according to USA Today.
The grand jury’s indictment came after a felony charge of injury of the elderly. The charge holds a penalty of a $10,000 fine and 10 years in prison.
“My initial reaction is that everyone needs to calm down a little bit,” said Rusty Hardin, Bennett’s attorney. “He’s a professional football player who is very respected for his work on social issues. I’m going to take my time to find out what occurred.”
Bennett is a three-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl Champion. The Seahawks traded Bennett to the Eagles in early March.
