Bad news for the Florida State football program as it prepares to take on Alabama in the season opener in Atlanta — junior receiver Davante Phillips is reportedly facing multiple felony charges.
Phillips appeared in 19 games over the last two seasons, participating mostly on special teams. According to Tomahawk Nation, if Phillips misses the Alabama game, the Seminoles will be down to six scholarship receivers for the season-opening game.
News of Phillips’ pending charges was first reported by Jim Henry of Tallahassee Democrat. Following the news, Jimbo Fisher has suspended Phillips indefinitely from the team.
