There is conventional one-and-done-era college basketball recruiting, then there is Makur Maker’s recruitment.

A 5-star center out of Hillcrest Prep in Phoenix, Arizona, Maker was a high school student for five years and is one year removed from his original graduating class, leading him to petition the NBA for 2020 NBA Draft eligibility (and bypass the one year of college) back in October. In February, Maker was granted draft eligibility. The coronavirus pandemic, however, has gotten in the way of some of his pre-draft plans and now Maker apparently isn’t so sure about going straight to the pros.

According to CBS Sports college basketball insider Jon Rothstein’s sources, Kentucky and UCLA are the favorites to land Maker if he withdraws from the draft. Rothstein adds that Maker is also considering Memphis, Auburn and Oregon and is unlikely to opt for the G League.

Listed at 6-11, 235 pounds, Maker is the No. 3 center and No. 16 prospect overall in the 2020 recruiting class on the 247Sports Composite.
