LSU had reportedly found its opener for the 2020 season.
According to FBSchedules.com, the Tigers will host University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) to kickoff their 2020 season on Sept. 5. UTSA, which plays in Conference USA, replaces previously scheduled opener Nicholls State, a game which has been moved to Oct. 3. The report says that UTSA will be paid $1.4 million to travel to Baton Rouge and face LSU.
With the addition of UTSA, LSU would be facing teams from the Lone Star State for the first three weeks of the 2020 season. In Week 2, the Tigers are set to host the Texas Longhorns. The following week, LSU is scheduled to play the Rice Owls in Houston at NRG Stadium.
UTSA is currently coached by Frank Wilson, a former running backs coach and recruiting coordinator at LSU for six seasons (2010-15).
