Report: New York Giants make decision about Deandre Baker’s future with the team
By Adam Spencer
Published:
Former Georgia CB Deandre Baker was a first-round pick by the New York Giants in the 2019 NFL Draft, but he struggled a bit as a rookie last season.
This offseason, he was charged with 4 counts of armed robbery and has since been placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt List.
However, if he does return to the field this year, it doesn’t seem it will be with the Giants. Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Giants are planning to release Baker soon:
The #Giants have moved on from Deandre Baker in their building, and he hasn’t been in their plans. It’ll be official in the near future. https://t.co/q2xpnAu6LJ

Considering the team has already given away his number, that’s a pretty strong sign of what the Giants are thinking moving forward.
We’ll see when the official release comes and if there’s additional discipline handed down by the NFL.
