Former Alabama DB Minkah Fitzpatrick and former Georgia LB Roquan Smith were both first-round picks in the 2018 NFL Draft.
Smith has played his 3 pro seasons with the Chicago Bears, while Fitzpatrick was traded from the Miami Dolphins to the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2019.
On Tuesday, it was reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport that both players have had their fifth-year options picked up by their current teams:
The #Steelers have exercised the fifth-year option for safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, source said. The #Bears have done the same for Roquan Smith.

Both Smith and Fitzpatrick are entering their fourth pro seasons in 2021, but teams generally like to make their fifth-year option decisions around this time.
In 2020, Fitzpatrick played in 16 games for the Steelers, recording 79 tackles, 4 interceptions and 1 touchdown. Smith played in 16 games for the Bears, recording 139 tackles, 4 sacks, 2 interceptions and a forced fumble.
