Florida has welcomed two new arrivals for the 2021 squad, according to Blake Alderman of 247Sports.
One of UF’s top 2021 signees, 4-star DL Tyreak Sapp, finally got approval from the NCAA clearinghouse to enroll and join the program. Sapp, out of St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, pledged to Dan Mullen’s staff back on Dec. 24, 2018. He kept his commitment to the Gators and signed early on Dec. 16, 2020. Sapp was the No. 15 defensive lineman and No. 100 prospect overall nationally in the class on the 247Sports Composite.
Sapp isn’t the only newcomer to the defense. Elijah Blades has graduated from Texas A&M and is officially enrolled at UF. In an interview he gave a week ago, Blades mentioned hoping to enroll by Aug. 13.
As a 4-star prospect out of high school, Blades pledged to the Jim McElwain staff back on June 22, 2016 but decommitted before National Signing Day. He then pledged to Nebraska but did not qualify and landed at Arizona Western Community College. Blades committed to Texas A&M as the 247Sports Composite’s top-ranked JUCO cornerback for the 2019 class.
Blades made six starts for the Aggies in 2019 while dealing with a torn labrum. He opted out of the 2020 season. Blades initially declared for the 2021 NFL Draft but changed his mind and took part in spring practice. In June, Blades entered the transfer portal.
