On Day 7 of Alabama’s fall camp, Nick Saban’s squad was missing a high-profile freshman.
Multiple beat reporters noted that RB Trey Sanders was not on the practice field Friday. Najee Harris is expected to lead the Bama backfield, but Sanders is likely to see a share of the carries. Earlier this week, Saban praised the former 5-star recruit’s work ethic.
“Trey Sanders is doing really, really well in camp. His work ethic is really good, he’s learning every day,” Saban said on Wednesday. “You know, his attention to detail seems to be pretty good. He’s got some ability that I think may be able to contribute to the team.”
Most fans aren’t going to panic over one missed practice as Sanders could be out for any number of reasons. But as one of the top recruits in 2019, Sanders is now a high-profile member of the Crimson Tide and any time he’s not on the field, people are going to notice. Saban meets with the media on Saturday and will likely be able to say why Sanders was missing on Friday.
#Alabama 5-star RB Trey Sanders was not spotted during today’s preseason practice, making him the latest fr. to be missing during the viewing period in as many days following NG D.J. Dale’s absence yesterday. Saban should discuss any potential injuries after tomorrow’s scrimmage.
