Rex Ryan makes the case for Jalen Milroe as No. 1 pick in 2025 NFL Draft
Rex Ryan is never shy with his words, and the former NFL head coach said on Sunday NFL Countdown that he believes Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe could very well be the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Is the former Jets and Bills head coach being a prisoner of the moment?
Well, the Crimson Tide junior signal-caller made quite the impression on Ryan after he threw for 374 yards on an astounding 27-of-33 passing and 2 touchdown tosses in Saturday night’s epic 41-34 victory over Georgia. Oh, and Milroe once again worked his magic on the ground, rushing for yet another 2 TDs and 117 yards on 16 carries.
Milroe has now rushed for 2 scores in each of Alabama’s 1st 4 games of the season. Yes, Milroe did throw his 1st interception of the season on Saturday, so he’s not perfect, but he’s been sensational so far in 2024 and Ryan was going to give him some love on what is supposed to be a pregame show about the NFL, not the college game.
“It’s funny because (Mike Greenberg) just talked about (Carson) Beck as possibly the first overall. Why the hell isn’t Milroe the first overall pick?” said Ryan on Sunday morning.

Beck, the Bulldogs quarterback, was good on Saturday, throwing for 439 yards, but he needed 50 passing attempts to do it with Georgia playing catchup all night. Beck also threw 3 interceptions to go with his 3 TD passes.
“(Milroe) outplayed Beck in that game, man. I tell you what, that guy was impressive,” said Ryan.
