Alabama offensive lineman Richie Petitbon suffered a torn ACL during the Crimson Tide’s scrimmage on Saturday, according to a report from AL.com’s Matt Zenitz.

Zenitz’s sources say that Petitbon has already had surgery to repair the injury.

Petitbon was expected to be in contention for playing time this season at offensive guard, as both starting jobs are up for grabs this spring.

The former four-star recruit sat out the 2015 season as a redshirt.

His status for the 2016 season is still unknown, but the typical timetable for return from an ACL injury does not bode well for his chances of being ready.

Alabama coach Nick Saban has not yet commented on Petitbon’s status.
