Rick Barnes comments on Bryce Drew’s dismissal at Vanderbilt

Tennessee will advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament following its win over No. 15 Colgate.
The Vols were heavy favorites, and star Admiral Schofield made sure Tennessee advanced, hitting back-to-back huge threes in the second half.
On the other end of the state, however, Vanderbilt fired Bryce Drew Friday, and the Commodores will endure another coaching search in the midst of the NCAA Tournament.
Following the win over the Raiders, Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes was asked about Drew’s dismissal.
“You hate to see if for someone that I respect as much as I respect Bryce,” Barnes said, via ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg. “And after three years, it’s tough. And there’s a lot of things that happened to them this year that I think was out of his control, and in Darius Garland going down, because they were a different team. … This business, after three years, it’s very tough.”
The basketball coaching profession is rather small, and everyone seems to know everyone. So, when one coach gets dismissed, other coaches certainly know about it and have an opinion on it. Three years is a rather short coaching tenure in college basketball.
Drew finished his career against Tennessee 1-5.
