The No. 4 LSU Tigers take on the No. 13 Ole Miss Rebels on Sept. 27 at 3:30 p.m. ET, and Rick Neuheisel of CBS Sports has revealed who he likes in this top-15 showdown.
The Tigers have lacked a run game in their first 4 games. Running back Caden Durham is the Tigers’ leading rusher with 213 yards, meaning he’s getting about 53 yards a game on the ground. While LSU has played tougher games against Clemson and Florida, they have also had games against LA Tech and Southeastern Louisiana, where Durham should’ve had massive success on the ground.
However, Ole Miss has not been great against the run. According to Neuheisel, the Rebels are last in the SEC at stopping the run. The Rebels have allowed 762 rushing yards through 4 games and given up 6 touchdowns on the ground.
Neuheisel believes LSU will find a run game against the Rebels’ defense and will go on to win the game on the road.
“This is where the rubber hits the road,” Neuheisel said. “I think LSU finds a run game to go along with Garrett Nussmeier. Experience wins, even though the Trinidad Chambliss story is fantastic. I’m going with LSU.”
