No matter who you’re rooting for in Monday’s College Football Playoff National Championship, there’s a strong storyline. For Indiana, it’s the biggest — and absolutely most inconceivable — turnaround in the sport’s history, especially considering how fast it occurred. On Miami’s side, it’s the reclaiming of a lost throne.

While Hurricanes fans of all ages are surely enjoying this ride, nobody is savoring the moment more than Michael Irvin. The Miami alum has been living and dying on the team’s sideline with every snap. The camera has captured it all. And this weekend, Saturday Night Live decided to do the same.

Last night, comedian Kam Patterson spoofed Irvin at SNL’s update desk. He did a great job capturing Irvin’s erratic nature and enthusiasm for the Hurricanes. And, of course, dropped some hilarious lines on top of that.

Fans were divided on whether Patterson did a good job as Irvin. Most social media users seemed to suggest the clip “wasn’t funny at all,” but a decent chunk believed it was a spot-on performance.

Regardless of your thoughts on the spoof, it’s clear that Miami will have to bring its A game on Monday night to win its first championship in more than 2 decades. The Hurricanes and Hoosiers battle for college football’s crown at 7:30 p.m. E.T. on ESPN.
