Bad news for SEC West defenses: Tank Bigsby is looking even better entering his second season.

That’s according to fellow Auburn running back Shaun Shivers, who met with the media on Saturday.

“Tank, he’s a really, really good football player, and he has improved way — like, what y’all seen last year, he was still a freshman,” Shivers told reporters, per AL.com’s Tom Green. “But now, he grew up. He’s looking way better than he looked last year.”

Last month, Bigsby made the media’s preseason All-SEC team. Bigsby was the SEC’s top freshman rusher in 2020, logging 138 carries for 834 yards (6.04 yards per carry) and 5 touchdowns in 10 games, earning him recognition as SEC Freshman of the Year, second-team all-SEC (AP, Phil Steele) second-team Freshman All-America (The Athletic).

Entering his sophomore season, Bigsby has already made preseason watch lists for Doak Walker Award (top running back), Paul Hornung Award (most versatile player), Walter Camp Award (best overall player) and Maxwell Award (best overall player).

Shivers’ quote is only going to add to the Bigsby hype for 2021.
