Admiral Schofield was the heart and soul of Tennessee in 2017-18. The Vols junior will be the heart and soul if he chooses to return for his senior season.

For now, that remains up in the air.

Schofield announced on Thursday that he is entering his name in the NBA draft, but that he won’t hire an agent. That’ll allow him to return to Tennessee if he doesn’t get the feedback he wants:

Schofield has until May 30 to announce his plans to stay in the draft or return to school.

Since the NBA modified its system to allow players the option to return to school if they declare for the draft and don’t hire an agent, Schofield’s case is pretty common.

It remains to be seen what type of evaluation the 6-5 forward will get. The second-team All-SEC selection was the catalyst behind Tennessee’s surprising share of the SEC regular season title, as well as the program’s push to the SEC Conference Tournament title game.

Schofield averaged 13.9 points and 6.5 rebounds per game as a junior. If he ultimately chooses to return, he’ll likely garner SEC preseason player of the year consideration.
