Scott Satterfield facing backlash after he argues there’s difference between players, coaches level of commitment: Players have to be ‘all-in’
Louisville coach Scott Satterfield is still dealing with the fallout from reportedly interviewing for South Carolina’s head coaching job last week.
Satterfield faced backlash from fans and, to some degree, Louisville’s athletic director for taking the meeting with the Gamecocks.
On Monday, Satterfield discussed the difference between a player staying at a school vs. a coaches’ responsibility to do the same.
His response will probably not go over well with players.
“As a player, you’re there for three to four years and then you’re done. And as players, you don’t have a family [on campus]. It’s just you,” Satterfield said. “Coaches have wives and kids and as a job, are they going to be at a job for 40 years? There’s a lot of different things I think that are involved with coaching.”
Here’s a clip of Satterfield’s comments:

Satterfield also did not rule out talking to other universities about open positions in the future.

Satterfield took over for Bobby Petrino before the 2019 season. The Cardinals were better than expected last year, but are just 3-7 this season. That includes losses to Boston College, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh.
The response to Satterfield’s comments on Monday has been swift. Here’s a sample of the reaction:

I mean, some of this about Satterfield getting fired might be a joke, but it's kind of hard to see why Louisville goes forward at this point with a coach who seems to be saying he is not fully committed to the program

Scott Satterfield seems like such a selfish turd. Dump him U of L and get someone who can compete with the teams on your schedule. https://t.co/2uFbRMHmbK
