ACC coach facing social media backlash after reportedly interviewing for South Carolina job
By Adam Spencer
Published:
South Carolina is reportedly winding down its coaching search, with one current ACC head coach recently interviewing for the position.
That coach was Louisville’s Scott Satterfield, who had said a couple of weeks ago that he wasn’t interested in the Gamecocks’ job.
Satterfield is reportedly among the finalists of Oklahoma OC Shane Beamer, Florida OC Brian Johnson and Louisiana coach Billy Napier:
Scott Satterfield interviewed with South Carolina yesterday according to a SC site
If that’s true, Louisville fans have to be frustrated. They denied he was interested and the AD came out and went to bat for him. If he interviewed after that….well I would be upset

@johnmwhittle of The Big Spur website says tonight: "offer to the next head coach could come on Sunday. Early next week, however, is the goal for an offer to be made."

However, since Satterfield recently said he wasn’t interested in South Carolina, he’s facing backlash on Twitter for reportedly interviewing with the Gamecocks. First, here’s his statement from a couple of weeks ago:

Now, here’s some of the backlash he’s facing on Saturday after reports of his interview with the Gamecocks surfaced:
South Carolina’s 247 site is telling its members Scott Satterfield interviewed with South Carolina yesterday. Guess he was more flattered than he let on.

Satterfield’s statement was carefully worded to seem like he was sticking at UofL while actually not saying anything.

Do you really think Scott Satterfield can get the South Carolina job with a 3-win season? It’s crazy. That would be like a CEO getting a big bonus in a year in which the stock tanked and the company laid off hundreds.

If it’s true that Scott Satterfield interviewed with South Carolina as reported by 247 after he released that statement earlier, I’d consider firing him if I were Louisville. You’ve already had one Bobby Petrino.

I like Scott Satterfield. This year was a weird year I don’t hold against him too much. But if he lied, and it looks like he did, about his interest in South Carolina, he burned the wrong bridge. I can’t see Louisville fans ever wanting to extend him if he doesn’t win 9-10 games.

If Scott Satterfield did interview with South Carolina, what’s his story going to be?
“Oh! That was a job interview? I thought I took a call about extending my car’s warranty!”

Can UofL give Scott Satterfield as an offering to the NCAA to get them to leave the Cardinals alone?
— Creig Ewing (@acewing) December 5, 2020
Scott Satterfield wants to go to South Carolina??? He’s picking the right time to leave Louisville but mannnn are they going to be mad

UL Coach Scott Satterfield, who recently criticized a player who decided to opt out by saying he only wants players who “want to be here” is interviewing with South Carolina
The hypocrisy of coaches like Scott’s Tots will never cease to amaze me https://t.co/euW7zaMbca

Will Satterfield end up leaving Louisville? We’ll find out soon enough when the Gamecocks make their decision.
