On Thursday night, Scott Van Pelt gave his winners for Week 3 of college football.
SVP has been solid so far this season, with a record of 10-6. He went 6-3 last week. I must note that all the odds provided in these picks are from ESPN Bet.
At 12 p.m. ET on Saturday, No. 13 Oklahoma will travel to Temple to take on the Owls. Last week, the Sooners hosted Michigan and came out with a huge, ranked win. The week after Temple, Oklahoma will host Auburn and will have a chance to score another ranked victory. SVP thinks the Sooners may be looking back on their win against Michigan and ahead to their matchup against Auburn. He has Temple covering a 23.5-point spread against Oklahoma this week.
South Alabama travels to take on Auburn this week at 12:45 p.m. ET. For reasons very similar to Oklahoma, Van Pelt took South Alabama to cover the 24.5-point spread this week against the Tigers.
Next, we go to a night game between Arkansas and No. 17 Ole Miss. Van Pelt took Arkansas +6.5 against Lane Kiffin and the Rebels.
We stick with the night games as Florida, coming off a rough loss to USF in Week 2, travels into Death Valley to take on No. 3 LSU underneath the lights. While many know Death Valley is not an easy place to play at night, SVP noted that these programs always produce classics. For that reason, he backed Florida to cover a 7.5-point spread against the Tigers. Kickoff between the 2 is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.
The final game on SVP’s card takes place in Columbia, South Carolina, as the Vanderbilt Commodores travel to take on the Gamecocks in a night game. If you’ve caught onto the trend, you know where SVP is going with this pick. He took Vandy to cover the +3.5 against South Carolina and cited just how good Vandy looked in their last game against Virginia Tech. Kickoff for this game is set for 7:45 p.m. ET.
