Scott Van Pelt has shared his pick for this week’s ACC Championship Game in Charlotte.

Van Pelt made the pick on his weekly “Winners’ segment on SportsCenter on Thursday. The veteran host is backing Clemson +2.5 points on Saturday night against SMU, who is the only team to go undefeated in ACC play during the regular season.

“This one’s spooky,” Van Pelt said. “Because the line swung heavy in the favor of SMU after it was posted. We’re on Clemson in a spot that they are very familiar with. Charlotte, ACC title game.”

Van Pelt is 9-4 all-time when picking against the Mustangs in this segment, per ESPN.

Van Pelt went with the underdog in each of his picks for this week, which has been a consistent theme for him in 2024 (and in previous years). Van Pelt’s overall record in ‘Winners’ this year stands at 58-51-2 entering conference championship weekend.

The winner of this game is projected to earn an automatic berth in this year’s College Football Playoff. SMU, ranked No. 8 by the selection committee this week, may earn an at-large spot even with a loss to the Tigers. However, this is a must-win game for Clemson if it wants to compete in the College Football Playoff this season.
