The Egg Bowl rivalry dates back to 1901 and has been contested every year since 1944, making it one of the longest uninterrupted rivalries in college football history. Ole Miss currently leads the all-time series with a record of 66 wins, 46 losses, and 6 ties against Mississippi State.
Mississippi State will be looking for redemption after suffering a disappointing 49-27 loss to Missouri in Week 12. Coming off a bye week, they’ll enter this contest with an overall record of 5-6 and just one conference win. A victory over Lane Kiffin‘s Rebels would not only secure bragging rights but also make them bowl eligible.
Early projections from ESPN’s Football Power Index favor Ole Miss, with a likelihood of winning at 78.2%, compared to Mississippi State’s 21.8% chance at home at Davis Wade Stadium.
