Had Alabama beaten Oklahoma in Week 12, its Iron Bowl matchup with Auburn would not have dictated its College Football Playoff livelihood. When the Sooners defeated the Crimson Tide, though, things changed. Now, Kalen DeBoer and Ty Simpson must beat the Tigers to reach the CFP. And they’re going to have to do so at night.

The SEC announced its Week 14 kickoff times on Monday afternoon. Unsurprisingly, Alabama and Auburn are facing off in a premier time slot: the 7:30 p.m. E.T. (6:30 p.m. C.T.) window on ABC.

Auburn (4-6, 1-6 SEC) will be playing with house money (and nothing to lose) versus Alabama. The Tigers have already fired their head coach and are primed for a program reset.

Conversely, the Crimson Tide (8-2, 6-1 SEC) will have everything — a potential SEC Championship appearance, CFP berth, and maybe even Kalen DeBoer’s job — on the line. There would, quite simply, be no better way for War Eagle to put lipstick on this pig of a season than ending Alabama’s hopes and dreams. And fans of both fanbases know it.

Before the Tigers and Crimson Tide tussle, they must handle business versus FCS foes in Week 13. Auburn hosts Mercer (2:00 p.m. E.T., SEC Network+) while Alabama welcomes Eastern Illinois (2:00 p.m. E.T., SEC Network+).
