The SEC has announced its preseason media poll for the 2025 season.
The vote was conducted at SEC Media Days in Atlanta this past weekend. Here is the predicted order-of-finish according to the league’s media ahead of the 2025 season:
- Texas
- Georgia
- Alabama
- LSU
- South Carolina
- Florida
- Ole Miss
- Texas A&M
- Tennessee
- Oklahoma
- Auburn
- Missouri
- Vanderbilt
- Arkansas
- Kentucky
- Mississippi State
The SEC’s press release notes that the preseason media poll has, historically, not been very predictive of the league’s champion. Only 10 times in 33 years has the media’s predicted champion gone on to win the SEC Championship.
Texas is a runaway favorite according to the poll. The Longhorns received 96 votes to win the SEC this season. The next closest team, Georgia, earned just 44 votes. No other SEC program received more than 30 votes. However, more than half of the league did garner at least 1 vote to win the whole thing. In addition to the Bulldogs and Longhorns, Alabama, LSU, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Vanderbilt, Florida, Tennessee, Ole Miss and Auburn each earned 1 vote.
Vegas generally agrees with the media’s handicapping of the SEC landscape. Per most of the best sports betting apps, Texas and Georgia are the preseason favorites with Alabama and LSU following closely behind.
The 2025 SEC Championship Game will be held on Dec. 6 in Atlanta.
