SEC head coaches were asked a simple question at conference media days last week in Atlanta: Who among SEC coaches would be your emergency contact if something happened to you?

The SEC Network released the video from that straw poll on Thursday morning. The answers give an interesting insight into the dynamic of this group of coaches.

Georgia coach Kirby Smart received the most total votes with 5. Mizzou coach Eli Drinkwitz, Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin and Texas A&M coach Mike Elko also garnered support.

Amusingly, LSU head coach Brian Kelly did not seem to understand the question conceptually. He named Kiffin as his emergency contact but said it was because he knew Kiffin would never pick up the phone.

“Because he’ll never answer,” Kelly said. “No, it would be Lane because if I call it’s definitely an emergency.”

Kiffin himself later in the video also admitted he rarely picks up when called.

Smart also voted for Kiffin and took a friendly jab at the Ole Miss coach.

“I guess Lane because he’ll always get the text,” Smart said, “Because he’s on his phone 24/7.”
