Future SEC players fill ESPN’s list of top juco recruits

ESPN released its list of the nation’s top junior college recruits on Monday, and the list was filled with future SEC players.

The 2016 ESPN Junior College 50 list includes 12 players who have committed to SEC schools next year.

The No. 1 player on the list is heading to Alabama. Charles Baldwin is a 6-foot-5, 300-pound offensive tackle from Windsor, Conn. He played for ASA College in Brooklyn, N.Y. this season. He plans to join the Crimson Tide this spring.

Georgia recently got a commitment from the No. 12 player, 6-foot-3 wide receiver Javon Wims from Hinds Community College in Mississippi.

The No. 14 player, defensive tackle Alexis Johnson from Fort Scott Community College in Kansas, is heading to Tennessee. Jeff George, a 6-foot-5 wide receiver from Dodge City Community College in Kansas and the No. 26 player on the list, will join Johnson in Knoxville.

Florida will sign the No. 15 player, 225-pound running back Mark Thompson out of Dodge City.

Outside linebacker David Luafatasaga from Arizona Western College, the No. 17 player, will play for Ole Miss next year.

Auburn has landed two of the top 50 junior college players. Paul James, a defensive end from Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Mississippi, is the No. 18 player, while quarterback John Franklin III from East Mississippi Community College is the No. 22 player. James spent his freshman year at Illinois, while Franklin started his college career at Florida State.

Naterease Strong, a running back from Hinds and the No. 27 player on the list, is heading to Missouri.

Kentucky has landed offensive tackle Tate Leavitt, the No. 32 player, from Hutchinson Community College in Kansas.

Mississippi State has landed a pair of recruits from Copiah-Lincoln. Cornerback Lashard Durr is the No. 43 player, while defensive end Deshon Cooper is the No. 45 player.

Nearly all of the 12 uncommitted recruits on the list also have offers from SEC schools.
