ESPN revealed its top 100 players for the 2025 season on Friday morning.
Of course, Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza took the No. 1 spot this year. Mendoza won the Heisman Trophy and led Indiana to its first-ever National Championship earlier this week.
As for the SEC, Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss was the highest-ranked player from that league at No. 7. Chambliss didn’t begin the year as Ole Miss’s starter, but ended up as a very important player for the Rebels as they made the semifinals of the CFP.
Here’s analysis on Chambliss’ season from ESPN’s Mark Schlabach:
The former Division II star didn’t show up at Ole Miss until last summer and didn’t start until the third game. Once Chambliss took over, he led the Rebels to their greatest season in school history. Thanks to Chambliss’ big plays, Ole Miss went 13-2 and reached the CFP semifinals. He threw for 3,937 yards with 22 touchdowns and was just as effective as a runner with 527 yards and eight scores.
Elsewhere in the SEC, two other players cracked the top 10. Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia was picked at No. 9 and Texas A&M defensive end Cashius Howell ended up at No. 10.

Pavia was a Heisman Trophy finalist and led the Commodores to a 10-win season. He was the No. 3 quarterback on ESPN’s list behind Mendoza and Chambliss.
Howell was a huge part of Texas A&M’s success on defense. He piled up 14 tackles for loss and 11 sacks this season and was one of the top pass rushers on ESPN’s list.
