The coaching award that honors scholarship, leadership and integrity has come out with its Midseason Watch List and 5 SEC coaches made the cut.

Managed by Peach Bowl, The Dodd Trophy celebrates the head coach of a team who enjoys success on the gridiron, while also stressing the importance of scholarship, leadership and integrity — the 3 pillars of legendary coach Bobby Dodd’s coaching philosophy. Bobby Dodd is one of only 4 honorees to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame as both a coach and a player.

Coaches in the first year with their current team are ineligible to receive The Dodd Trophy.

The SEC coaches who made the list are Tennessee’s Josh Heupel, Ole Miss’ Lane Kiffin, Alabama’s Nick Saban, Georgia’s Kirby Smart and Kentucky’s Mark Stoops.

Of the 20 coaches, 8 remain undefeated heading into Week 8 of the 2022 season. The ACC and SEC lead the way with 5 coaches each represented on the list, followed by 4 selections from the Big Ten, 3 from the Big 12, 2 Pac-12 honorees and 1 coach from the AAC.

“All of these coaches have shown strong leadership both on and off the football field amid the ever-changing college football landscape,” Peach Bowl CEO and President Gary Stokan said in a press release. “There is no doubt that their emphasis on student-athlete academics and involvement in their communities exemplifies the Dodd coaching qualities of leadership, scholarship and integrity. We look forward to seeing which of these elite head coaches separate themselves as we head into the second half of the 2022 season.”
