SEC football is looking to deliver another strong season this fall, though the conference enters a somewhat unusual state for the conference.
That position involves the SEC searching for its first national title since 2022, when Georgia completed its back-to-back run to national titles. For most other leagues, it would be business as usual, but we know the SEC is no other league, and the teams within the conference will be chomping at the bit to claim it all.
While the quarterback position traditionally dominates the chatter and outlook for many conference and national title races, ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg has shown some love to the non-QBs. He revealed his list of the top 25 players in the country who are not QBs, and 7 players from the SEC dot the list.
Some strong rising sophomores are featured in the form of Alabama receiver Ryan Williams and South Carolina pass rusher Dylan Stewart. Both produced dynamic seasons as true freshmen and will be back for more this fall.
Only 1 program from the SEC produced multiple players on Rittenberg’s list. That would be Florida with Billy Napier hoping to lead the Gators to a breakout season. Florida produced 1 player on either side of the ball, and a total of 4 of the total SEC players on the list hail from the defensive side of the ball.
Here are the SEC players on Rittenberg’s list:
- Ryan Williams, Alabama WR
- Dylan Stewart, South Carolina Edge
- Anthony Hill Jr., Texas LB
- Le’Veon Moss, Texas A&M RB
- R Mason Thomas, Oklahoma DE
- Caleb Banks, Florida DT
- Jadan Baugh, Florida RB
