SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic gives a weekly roundup of his thoughts on the latest action across the conference.
It was a light week in the SEC, with only 8 of the 14 conference teams in action. The top-10 showdown in Jacksonville headlined the slate. Cubelic offered his thoughts on Florida and Georgia as well as Arkansas, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas A&M.
Cubelic’s takeaways can be viewed below, via Twitter:
FLORIDA:
Magnificent plan. TE’s were so good but I thought use of RBs in pass game was the difference. Kept defense defending entire field. OL was better than I thought. Middle 3 solid. 56 & 1 made the difference on defense. Stood up to a good OL. QB just anticipates so well.— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) November 8, 2020
MISSISSIPPI STATE:
That was much closer to how it should look on offense. Just keep taking what’s there & the shots will come. Rogers gets it. Added some things in run game to help. Down a few OL & it showed. Center struggled with 10. Backed off with the plan on def & paid off.— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) November 8, 2020
TENNESSEE:
You saw why JG is the best option to win now. The drop off is bigger than most want to admit. OL was good. 73 was GREAT in 2nd half. Kicker thing was weird. Multiple guys dinged up. Not enough push until it was too late. Struggled with some alignment. 3rd downs killer— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) November 8, 2020
VANDERBILT:
Thought OL held up well considering what they front does. Blocking effort good across the board. Seals can’t put ball into traffic. Bad decisions. Zone stuff was working, slowed it down just enough. 21 is going to be a star. Was dynamic. 10 shredded that OL all day.— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) November 8, 2020
