The Walter Camp Foundation, which awards the best collegiate football player with the Walter Camp Award, released its annual preseason watch list, and while several from the SEC made it, many others didn’t.

Most noticeably absent were Alabama QBs Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa. One of those two are going to put up some serious numbers in 2018. Joining the Alabama duo was South Carolina WR Deebo Samuel, who may be the most explosive player in the SEC. We also expect the Georgia duo of Jake Fromm and D’Andre Swift to make some noise for this award, too.

Since its inception in 1967, seven SEC players have won the award, with the last one coming in 2015 with former Alabama RB Derrick Henry.

Here are the SEC players included in the Walter Camp watch list:

  • Jake Bentley, QB, South Carolina
  • AJ Brown, WR, Ole Miss
  • Raekwon Davis, DL, Alabama
  • Damien Harris, RB, Alabama
  • Drew Lock, QB, Missouri
  • Kyle Shurmur, QB, Vanderbilt
  • Benny Snell, RB, Kentucky
  • Jarrett Stidham, QB, Auburn
  • Greedy Williams, DB, LSU
