The SEC schedule pretty much features big-time matchups on a weekly basis, but Week 8 might take the cake.
The conference released the TV schedule and kickoff times for Week 8 on Monday. The 2 feature games on the Oct. 19 schedule will likely go a long way toward determining who gets in and who gets left out of the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff.
We’ll start with the afternoon showdown in Knoxville, where Tennessee will host Alabama in their traditional 3rd Saturday in October spot. The matchup will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC. Before the Crimson Tide and Volunteers collide in Week 8, both teams will be looking to bounce back in Week 7 after they were both upset on the road in Week 6, with Alabama falling at Vanderbilt and Tennessee getting beat at Arkansas.

Then in primetime in Week 8, Georgia visits Texas, with 2 of college football’s behemoths meeting as conference foes for the very 1st time with the Longhorns joining the conference this season. At one point, it looked like this matchup could be a No. 1 vs. No. 2, but then the Bulldogs lost at Alabama, which pretty much ruined the chance for that. Still, Georgia-Texas will be huge, and it’ll kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
Another SEC matchup worth noting in Week 8 features LSU visiting Arkansas at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN. The Razorbacks are coming off that upset of Tennessee and they have a bye this week, meaning they’ll be rested and ready when the Tigers come to Fayetteville on Oct. 19.
