Shane Beamer is aware of the trouble college football has with keeping games in a reasonable window for time, but last week South Carolina struggled in that area during its win over Charlotte.

Beamer addressed the issue on the SEC coaches media teleconference on Wednesday.

“I haven’t had any conversations with anyone about it,” he said. “I’m all for speeding up games. Even last week, I recorded the Charlotte game on the television and gave myself enough room for 3.5 hours of the game and it wasn’t enough. … I’m all for ways to continue speeding up the game.”

Beamer and the Gamecocks are playing on Thursday this week against South Carolina State because of the pending impact of Hurricane Ian. It was scheduled for noon on Saturday in Columbia, but has been moved to 7 p.m. ET on Thursday. The game will be televised on SEC Network.
