South Carolina standout running back Kevin Harris has been sidelined in fall camp after having a minor procedure on his back over the summer.
Beamer spoke to reporters on Saturday and was asked for the latest on Harris when it comes to returning to practice and his availability in Week 1. The first-year Gamecocks head coach said he’s hopeful that Harris will be returning to the practice field soon. Beamer added that Harris is moving around well and is looking good.
With that outlook, it’s not surprising that Beamer expects Harris to play in Week 1. South Carolina opens its season on Sept. 4 against Eastern Illinois.
Beamer on Kevin Harris: “I hope (he’s out there this week). He moves around well, he looks good, he feels good. We’ll obviously defer to the doctors.”
And if not, it’s not any kind of concern.
Nothing’s changed in his prognosis for Game 1, that he’ll be ready.
