Shaun Dion Hamilton not worried about Alabama’s losses: All we do is reload
Most programs would be devastated after losing the likes of Jonathan Allen, Marlon Humphrey, Reuben Foster, Ryan Anderson, Dalvin Tomlinson, Tim Williams and Eddie Jackson to the NFL. Obviously, Alabama isn’t most programs.
So much so, that the returning defenders for the Crimson Tide haven’t even paid much attention to the new faces on defense following the first day of fall camp.
During his availability with the media Thursday, linebacker Shaun Dion Hamilton was asked about the challenges of replacing so many key defenders from last year’s team. According to the veteran linebacker, the program’s next man up philosophy is so ingrained in the players, that a “reload” is simply expected at this point.
“It’s definitely different but here, we’ve built a standard where all we do is reload,” Dion Hamilton said. “The younger guys, the older guys, guys that didn’t have as much of a role (last year), are going to embrace the challenge. How are you going to respond? Everybody is doing pretty good. We’re going to embrace it.”
Alabama’s roster has been restocked thanks to the addition of yet another No. 1 overall recruiting class, following in the footsteps of every recruiting class used to assemble the current Crimson Tide roster, and despite so many losses suffered by the defense, the expectations remain the same heading into another season in Tuscaloosa.
