‘Sober friend arrived intoxicated’: Texas A&M police social media account provides all-time great post

The Texas A&M Police X account (@TAMUPolice) has a habit of providing great posts ahead of and during Aggie football games. Saturday night, during Texas A&M‘s game versus Mississippi State, it added to its legacy.

Late in the first half, the account reported police responded to an “intoxicated subject” report in the men’s restroom near section 334/335 at Kyle Field. The subject then supposedly “called his sober friend” to come meet him. Once there, the rumored “sober friend” was anything but sober, resulting in a pair of arrests.

Less than 15 minutes later, police responded to another “public intoxication” call. This time, the offender was “slumped over a car.” Unfortunately, the person either had no sober friend to contact or had no means by which to contact them. They met the same fate as our first pair of subjects.

Texas A&M’s struggling offense may be to blame for these patrons’ overindulgence. After posting 40-plus points in 3 straight games to open the season, the Aggies have looked much more human in SEC play. Auburn held them to 16 points in Week 5, and Mississippi State has limited them to just 7 points in the first half of their Week 6 game.

That effort may wind up cutting it tonight, but it definitely won’t hold up over the season’s duration. Maybe A&M police can find a solution for them ahead of next week’s matchup with Florida.
