Looks like the SEC Network is already paying off for the Southeastern Conference, and much quicker than anticipated.

According to South Carolina AD Ray Tanner, who told South Carolina’s Board of Trustees on Friday, every SEC school will receive a $5 million distribution this summer, and that’s a conservative estimate.

“Long story short, when we first started talking about the network, they said we’d probably realize a benefit in Year 3,” Tanner told the board, according to Gamecocks247. “Obviously it’s been more successful than that. This summer we’ll receive a distribution [and] I think it will be at least $5 million. I’d like to think that’s on the conservative side. Each school will receive a $5 million gain.”

Projections had indicated that schools wouldn’t receive any distribution until the third year after the network had launched.

The SEC Network’s launch was said to be the most successful network launch in cable history, and now that the schools are already set to receive a distribution, I’d say early reports were correct.
