South Carolina lands 7th pledge of July after receiving commitment from DB Jonathan Gipson
With camp set to begin in Columbia Monday, the Gamecocks got an added bonus with an eye toward the 2018 season thanks to Georgia defensive back Jonathan Gipson. The Peach State native announced his commitment to South Carolina Monday afternoon during a ceremony at his school.
The month of July has been good to the Gamecocks on the recruiting front as Will Muschamp and company have picked up seven commitments for the 2018 recruiting cycle since the calendar turned from June to July with Gipson now joining the class.
The 6-foot-1, 183-pound Gibson rates as a three-star prospect, the No. 40 cornerback in the nation and the No. 46 overall player from the state of Georgia according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. Gipson recently announced a Top 3 of South Carolina, Tennessee and Indiana. Auburn, Kentucky and Louisville have also extended Gibson scholarship offers during his recruitment.

South Carolina is now up to 17 total commitments for the 2018 recruiting cycle with Gipson joining RJ Roderick as the only two defensive backs in the class.
