The offseason exodus from Frank Martin’s South Carolina basketball continued on Monday as the school announced Rakym Felder would not be returning next season.
Felder saw action in 36 games as a freshman but did not play last season following an offseason arrest. He sat out the season due to an on-going suspension but apparently did not meet the necessary requirements set out by Martin to return to the program.
South Carolina released the following statement from Martin, which comes via John Del Bianco of the Big Spur:
“When Rakym and I met to discuss his return to our program, there were certain things that I asked of him and unfortunately he has not met those expectations. I’m disappointed that he did not take advantage of the opportunity to fully return to our program. We wish him the best with his future.”
Following the news, Felder tweeted out this message thanking those who gave him support as his time with the team has come to an end:
Thank You For The Love, The Memories, And Taking Me In With Open Arms Through The Positive & Negative 🐔🤙🏾❤️✌🏾
