South Carolina hasn’t had the season it wanted to have, at least up to this point.

The Gamecocks were ranked as highly as 10th back in early September, before Vanderbilt came to Columbia and steamrolled the Gamecocks in Week 3. Shane Beamer’s South Carolina squad hasn’t been the same since that point, losing 4 out of 5 overall since a 2-0 start, and it’s near the bottom of the SEC at 1-4.

But Week 9 brings the potential for new hope and a new beginning, with the Gamecocks hosting No. 4 Alabama on national TV. The 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff on ABC against arguably the hottest team in the country gives Shane Beamer‘s boys a shot to make a statement, and a few hours before kickoff South Carolina football’s social media account revealed how the Gamecocks would be dressed for the grand occasion.

The title of the post was: “Tradition stitched into every thread”. South Carolina hopes to add to its football tradition on Saturday and shock everyone by taking down the 6-1 Crimson Tide, and it’ll start by featuring white helmets for the big game. Beamer’s team will also wear garnet home jerseys for the fans at Williams-Brice Stadium, and it’ll go with the garnet pants, too, according to the pictures in the post.

South Carolina’s players know they’ll look good. The only question is, how will the Gamecocks perform in these threads against the surging Crimson Tide. A national TV audience on ABC will enjoy the uniforms and, hopefully for South Carolina, a competitive game in Columbia.
