Derrius Guice is only months away from the biggest payday of his life as he’s expected to be among the first running backs selected in the 2018 NFL Draft. However, before he is chosen by his next team, he had to take care of his own business.

The former LSU great made an immediate splash when he stepped in for an injured Leonard Fournette in 2016 and he’s now done much the same by being the first athlete to sign with Top Dawg Entertainment. The company is known for their representation of musicians such as Kendrick Lamar, SZA, ScHoolboy Q and Jay Rock but has also partnered with Disney to promote the upcoming “Black Panther” movie.

ESPN’s Darren Rovell was the first to report Guice’s decision to sign with the agency.

“They were the first guys who came to me, just like LSU was the first school to offer me a scholarship,” Guice said according to ESPN. “I didn’t forget that.”

If Guice manages to impress during the pre-draft process, there’s a chance he flys up NFL draft boards and into contention as a top 10 overall selection. If he does so, he’ll be following former teammate Fournette once again.
