Stephen A. Smith says Alabama doesn’t deserve to say ‘Roll Tide’ anymore
Alabama is still licking its wounds after falling 31-17 to Florida State on Saturday in Tallahassee.
If the Crimson Tide were hoping for patience from the likes of Stephen A. Smith, they will be sorely disappointed after seeing his latest comments. Smith appeared on ESPN’s First Take with Paul Finebaum and Cam Newton on Monday and eviscerated Alabama across multiple epic rants.
Smith punctuated his comments by saying Alabama has lost the right to say the phrase “Roll Tide” after yet another embarrassing loss.
“This is embarrassing. This is not Alabama football,” Smith said. “I don’t know what the hell this is. Ain’t no ‘Roll Tide.’ We gotta take that out of the vernacular. Wipe it away. No more ‘Roll Tide.’ You don’t deserve it! You don’t deserve it! OK, you don’t deserve’ ‘Roll Tide.’ Because you’re getting rolled over. That’s what happened.”
Smith also called out Alabama for being “punked” by Florida State quarterback Thomas Castellanos.
“I’m looking at your toughness,” Smith said. “Castellanos basically punked y’all. Told y’all, ‘I’m going to whip y’all you-know-what. Y’all can’t stop me. Nick Saban can’t save you’ before the game. And you go out there and get whipped like that?”
Alabama will try to put the pieces back together before taking on Louisiana-Monroe in Week 2.
