Stetson Bennett stepped up and delivered a career-best rushing effort with nothing but green grass standing between him and the end zone. Auburn defenders were out of grasp for the Georgia quarterback who scampered 64 yards for a touchdown to open the fourth quarter.
That expanded Georgia’s lead over Auburn to 28-3, and virtually snuffed out any Auburn comeback hopes as the Tigers continue to struggle on offense.
Once Bennett broke the line of scrimmage, a defender was hardly within 5 yards of tackling the Georgia quarterback until the goal line.
In the passing game, Bennett was 14-for-22 for 122 yards as the Bulldogs are set to improve to 6-0 on the season, and send Auburn to 3-3.
Bennett’s run also put Georgia over the 200-yard mark rushing, while the Tigers continued to struggle running the ball with just 88 yards, including 52 by Robby Ashford. Tank Bigsby had just 19 yards on 10 carries by early in the fourth quarter.
