Like most rivals, Texas and Texas A&M don’t like being mistaken for each other. Someone working at SEC Media Days, however, made a mistake that may result in a lifetime ban from the Lone Star State.
Steve Sarkisian and Texas are up at Day 2 of SEC Media Days in Atlanta. For the televised podium presser, each head coach has been walking out to a snippet of his school’s fight song. When it was Sarkisian’s turn, someone accidentally played the Aggie War Hymn. Oops!

Some Longhorn fans might have liked for Sarkisian to take a jab or quip at the Aggies, but he let the moment play out. Sarkisian went into his opening statement when the music stopped.
As for the rivalry, Texas’s move to the SEC led to the Longhorns and Aggies meeting on the football field last year for the first time since 2011. Sarkisian’s squad notched a 17-7 over the Aggies, giving Texas back-to-back wins in the rivalry following the 27-25 2011 victory.
Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko is scheduled to appear at SEC Media Days on Thursday. We’ll see if the “Aggie War Hymn” gets played again.
Mistakes happen. Hopefully, everyone can get a good chuckle out of Tuesday’s error.
