You can eliminate at least one SEC team from the Everett Golson sweepstakes.
South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier told Josh Kendall of The State on Wednesday the Gamecocks aren’t interested.
“We are not pursuing (Everett Golson),” Spurrier said. “We are not really in that.”
South Carolina was reportedly one of the schools Golson, a Myrtle Beach, S.C. native and former Notre Dame quarterback, was targeting for his final season.
Golson has visited Florida and Florida State this week. He led the Fighting Irish to a berth in the BCS Championship Game as a freshman in 2012 before being suspended for his sophomore season due to academic improprieties.
Last fall, Golson led all FBS quarterbacks with 22 turnovers before eventually losing his starting job to Malik Zaire.
