The Football Writers Association of America and the National Football Foundation announced their preseason Super 16 poll Thursday.
Here’s how the FWAA and NFF explain the Super 16 poll:
The FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll was established at the conclusion of the 2013 season by long-time partners, the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and the National Football Foundation (NFF). Voters rank the top 16 teams in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, and the results will be released every Sunday of the 2015 season; the individual votes of all members will also be made public. The first poll will be released Sept. 8 (to account for Labor Day games), and the final poll will be released Dec. 6. The pollsters consist of FWAA writers, College Football Hall of Famers, NFF Board Members and highly regarded collegiate administrators who were selected to create a balanced-geographical perspective as well as a diversity of viewpoints from the different roles associated with the game.
Five SEC teams check in on the preseason rankings. The highest ranked team is Alabama at No. 3, while No. 7 Auburn and No. 9 Georgia are both ranked in the top 10. LSU and Ole Miss round out the Top 16 teams.
