A year after playing for a national championship at LSU, Clyde Edwards-Helaire is playing for Super Bowl as his Kansas City Chiefs take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on their home turf.

During a “bold predictions” segment on “Get Up,” ESPN analyst and former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky shared why he expects the former Tiger to win Super Bowl MVP as a rookie.

“Clyde Edwards-Helaire goes for over 150 yards and wins MVP of the Super Bowl,” Orlovsky said. “We’re all talking all week about how Tampa Bay’s defense is going to slow down Patrick Mahomes and passing, and rightfully so. But no one runs more of the RPO in the NFL than Kansas City. Often times they turn it into a throw. But I think Tampa’s defense is going to defend that pass first and force that hand-off as many times as possible. I think Edwards-Helaire is going to run against some light boxes … he’s going to have a really good opportunity to win MVP.”

SDS’ own Adam Spencer named Edwards-Helaire one of the most likely SEC alumni to be named Super Bowl MVP. LSU fans will certainly notice that CEH was just one of multiple former Tigers to make the list.

The LSU alumni and other former SEC standouts will have to manage to outshine two of the NFL’s most prominent quarterbacks in Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes to be named MVP on Sunday in Tampa.
