The Tennessee Volunteers may be down a defensive lineman ahead of the 2021 season.

Early enrollee signee, 3-star defensive tackle, Isaac Washington announced on Twitter that he’s entered the NCAA transfer portal.

“First off i (sic) want to thank God for giving me this ability to play the sport i (sic) love … and i would like to thank the university of tennessee (sic) for giving me this opportunity … with that being said i (sic) have decided to enter my name into the NCAA transfer portal.”

Washington was indefinitely suspended, along with 3 other players, earlier this spring on drug-related misdemeanor charges. The 6-foot-3, 280-pound lineman is from Pilot Mountain, North Carolina, and he was ranked as the state’s No. 39 overall player for the class of 2021, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Washington can still opt out of the transfer portal and return to Tennessee.
